Today Dame Olivia de Havilland celebrated her 103rd year here on earth!!! We are so lucky that she is still with us and I'm a honored to be able to celebrate her incredible life and career with this little blogathon and for Crystal from In the Good Old Days of Classic Hollywood for co-hosting with me.
I will try to update this post daily with the entries and hopefully will have time to read them this weekend.

Happy Birthday, Olivia de Havilland!
Dear Phyllis,
ReplyDeleteI sent my entry to Crystal. I wrote about "The Santa Fe Trail" for this blogathon. Thank you for co-hosting this blogathon again this year! It was a great opportunity for me to watch another of her movies. Last year, I enjoyed watching "The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex" for the first time for this blogathon. The year before, I watched my first ever film with Olivia de Havilland for the blogathon, "Strawberry Blonde," which is now one of my favorites! I hope the blogathon is a great success this year!
By the way, I would like to invite you to join our month-long celebration of Code films, #CleanMovieMonth85 (https://pureentertainmentpreservationsociety.wordpress.com/2019/06/07/announcing-cleanmoviemonth85/)! Throughout July, we are going to watch nothing but American Breen Era films, and we are inviting participants to do the same. Writers can join this celebration with articles about their own favorite films and discoveries during the month, and we will republish them on our website. As a special high-point of this celebration, we are hosting a blogathon on the first weekend in July in honor of the formation of the PCA and the twenty wonderful years of decent cinema which followed during Joseph Breen’s tenure. It will be called The Favorite Code Film Blogathon (https://pureentertainmentpreservationsociety.wordpress.com/2019/06/07/announcing-the-favorite-code-film-blogathon/). On July 5-7, participants will choose their single favorite Code films and write about why these movies from the era of film decency were so good. We would love to have your participation. We could really use your talent!
Yours Hopefully,
Tiffany Brannan
That makes you the second person to be introduced to Olivia through this blogathon!! I'm so glad you are enjoying your experience with her so far.
DeleteI would love to join but I started a new job a few weeks ago and barely have enough time for this blogathon! Also I'm crushing on an actor that actually alive (haha) and have been watching some more recent movies (although I tend to "Breen" them myself by skipping any unsavory scenes). I wish you success though!!
Looking forward to reading your post and thanks so much for joining in this celebration of Olivia's life!!
Mine's up!
